"The place to be happy is here, the time to be happy is now"--Robert Ingersoll
Welcome to my Lejour breast reduction website.  This website is a compilation of my experience with breast reduction surgery and all that it entailed over one year, from July 2001 to August 2002, with occasional updates.  This site includes a brief history of how having large breasts as a child led to my decision for a breast reduction.  I give very detailed descriptions of my consultation appointment, day before surgery, day of surgery and the day after surgery.  Included are before photos, as well as after photos that were taken through different stages of the healing process. Please enjoy your stay and I hope that you find the information that you are looking for.

What exactly is the Lejour method of breast reduction surgery?  The surgeon makes an incision around the nipple and from the nipple down.  It is also referred to as the "lollipop"scar.  Traditional (or pedicule) method of breast reduction requires an incision around the nipple and straight down like Lejour with an additional incision near the armpit and completely underneath the breasts.
Women with extremely large breasts may not qualify for the lejour method because of extreme amounts of tissue and skin that need to be removed, but it's definitely worth asking about.  Obviously I haven't had any experience with the pedicule method, so I cannot speak about what it feels like or whether the healing is any more difficult than the lejour method.  Having had the lejour method, one would assume that the healing time and healing problems would be kept to a minimum.  There are other methods of breast reduction, of which I am not familiar with that may be worth researching.  Please consult your plastic surgeon in determining the best method for you.
